ABOUT KIMBERLEA

Kimberlea Kressal relocated to Los Angeles to write for television, following a twenty year career in New York City as a playwright and theatre director. She received her first opportunity to write for television on the second season of Z: The Beginning of Everything -- before it was abruptly canceled. She bounced back, landing a job on another tv show -- which was also quickly canceled. Lucky for all of us, this freed Kimberlea up to conceive and co-Produce OTHER: a showcase of under-heard voices with her long-time friend Sharon Freedman. When she isn't producing this showcase, Kimberlea is busy writing. Her semi-autobiographical queer comedy Stealth is in development with Escape Artists and UCP. She developed her political drama, Scorched Earth, with producer Gavin Polone. Recently she wrote and directed her first short, Until They Arrive (starring Yara Martinez), and her second short, Hatched (starring Melissa Ponzio), was directed by OTHER alum Rachel Annette Helson. Kimberlea is the writer and librettist of the stage musical Lesbian Love Octagon which played to sold out houses and rave reviews off-off Broadway and is currently being adapted into a digital series. Kim also teaches the popular class TV Writing for the Actor. For ten years she was the Resident Director for the New York City-based theatre company Wreckio Ensemble. She is an arts education and LGBTQ activist who has built her career around elevating the stories of women and LGBTQ people. Kimberlea is represented by Manage-Ment and Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
